Legal Engineer (m/f/d)

Potsdam · Full-time · Starting immediately

About us

We automate legal, regulatory, and bureaucratic processes for companies, end-to-end, with AI. We're building autonomous legal-AI agents and consulting tools that rethink legal work from the ground up: fast, precise, accessible. With real customers in a market that's overdue for disruption.

What it's about

You're a qualified lawyer who doesn't want to grind through legal work case by case, but wants to build the systems that make it scale? As a Legal Engineer you work with our partner lawyers and customers to develop workflows into scalable agentic services, and you advise our engineers and designers on building the infrastructure it takes. You work across product, technology, customers and partners, and take responsibility from day one for services that run with real customers.

Your responsibilities

  • You develop legal workflows together with customers and partner lawyers and turn them into scalable agentic services.
  • You shape how our AI thinks about law: prompts, context and workflows for real legal tasks.
  • You build our legal templates and playbooks and bring them into the platform, for example employment law, data protection and commercial.
  • You build evals: test cases that measure whether AI output is good enough. You find the edge cases before a customer does.
  • You draw the line into the product: where AI executes and where a lawyer decides.
  • You safeguard the quality of our AI platform from a legal perspective, together with our partner lawyers.
  • You advise our engineers and designers and translate legal requirements into specifications they can build.

Your profile

  • A legal foundation: one or two state exams, LL.M., business law or comparable experience.
  • You think in systems and processes, not in individual cases.
  • You can judge legal quality and explain why something is good enough or not.
  • You already work seriously with AI and want to understand when and why it fails.
  • Strong interest in Legal Tech and the digitalization of the legal market.
  • Being able to code is a plus, not a requirement.
  • You're ready to work independently with customers and partners across industries.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English.

What we offer

  • Real responsibility from day one: your templates and workflows run with real customers.
  • Daily work on and with technology that pushes the boundaries of what's possible.
  • Competitive salary and equity above the German startup average.
  • A generous AI budget for the best tools like Claude Code, Codex, hyperscaler compute etc.
  • Focused, international team with short decision paths.
  • 3 days a week in our office; one month a year you can work from anywhere.

Interview process

  • Intro call (~30 minutes). A quick read on both sides to see if it's worth continuing.
  • Subject-matter interview (~1 hour). We walk through a real legal workflow. We want to see how you think, judge, and argue.
  • Test day. You spend about half a day in our office working on a real task, the kind of work you would actually do here.
  • Final interview with the CEO.
  • Reference calls with your references.
  • Offer.
